چکیده

EcoBot I is a robot developed in the IAS Lab that uses Microbial Fuel Cells (MFC) as the ‘live engine’ and glucose as the fuel. This prototype robot employs no other form of conventional power supply and it proves the concept of autonomy whilst at the same time performing photo-taxis. Recent experiments conducted in our lab, employing two different techniques, have suggested that the power output from these devices can be increased by one or even two orders of magnitude. We classify these techniques into three generations, namely Gen-I, GenII and Gen-III, which display different characteristics exploitable by energetically autonomous robots. This paper reports on the work to improve the performance of the EcoBot I onboard power source.

Towards Energetically Autonomous Foraging Soft Robots

A significant goal of robotics is to develop autonomous machines, capable of independent and collective operation free from human assistance. To operate with complete autonomy robots must be capable of independent movement and total energy self-sufficiency. We present the design of a soft robotic mouth and artificial stomach for aquatic robots that will allow them to feed on biomatter in their ...

Analysis of Multi-Robots Transportation with Multi-objective PSO Algorithm in an Artificial Capital Market

In this paper, to analyze the transport of autonomous robots, an artificial Capital market is used. Capital market is considered as a pier which loading and unloading of cargo is done. Autonomous robots load and unload from the ship to the warehouse wharf or vice versa. All the robots have the ability of transporting the loads, but depending on loads and the location of unloading (or loading) a...

Effective Mechatronic Models and Methods for Implementation an Autonomous Soccer Robot

Omni directional mobile robots have been popularly employed in several applications especially in soccer player robots considered in Robocup competitions. However, Omni directional navigation system, Omni-vision system and solenoid kicking mechanism in such mobile robots have not ever been combined. This situation brings the idea of a robot with no head direction into existence, a comprehensi...

An Energetically-Autonomous Robotic Tadpole with Single Membrane Stomach and Tail

We present an energetically autonomous robotic tadpole that uses a single membrane component for both electrical energy generation and propulsive actuation. The coupling of this small bio-inspired power source to a bio-inspired actuator demonstrates the first generation design for an energetically autonomous swimming robot consisting of a single membrane. An ionic polymer metal composite (IPMC)...
